I was attending the pravachan of Shree Venumadhav Upasni on the Yashwantrao Maharaj Patangan.
Whenever he used to sing a Bhajan,I used to hear a flute being played to the tune of the Bhajan.
Curiously I looked around and I found this old man.The most interesting thing about this man was he was blowing the air into the flute with his nose and he played not one but two flutes at a time.

Somre more friends at Ramghat
The picture says it all.
Just look at the energy these guys have...
Each one tried to pose in a different way.I told nothing to them abt how to pose.
Look at the chap sitting in the right bottom corner.Seems he was trying to scare me by making a "snake" gesture.
The one standing just above him was trying to spray something at me.

Some young friends at Ramghat
I had been to the Ramghat with my mother to attend a pravachan by Shree Venumadhav Upasni.
There was some time before the function would start.Thought of clicking some pics.
I was moving around the Ghat and clicking pics when some small friends gathered around me,curiously looking at my camera.
The digital camera was a new thing for then and all wanted me to click their pics.
I too was taken by their excitement and asked them to take a pose.
The elder ones were bullying the smaller ones. So,asked the smaller chaps to get together and pose for a pic.
I think this is one of the best pics that I have ever clicked.I am particularly satisfied by the poses, expressions and the joy with which these chaps shouted when I showed the pic to them.

Ramghat
Though the Ramghat is quite dirty compared to the banks of other famous rivers around the world, the Ramghat still fascinates me.
Everytime I visit Ramghat for some reason,I try to take pics from a different angle.
This one was from the Dew Mamledar Yashwant Rao Maharaj Patangan.

Pandavaleni1
From the top of Pandavaleni
Standing from Left to Right - Ajey,Shishir and myself.
In Diwali we decided to trek Pandavaleni.
It was my first succesful attempt to scale the Pandavaleni top.The first attempt was a failure.I was in the 5th standard then and was enrolled in the scouts in my school. The school had arranged a trek on Pandavaleni. We tried to climb the top,but beacause of our small age, when we looked down and everything looked tiny,we felt very giddy and decided to climb down.

Minutes of the Nasik Group Diwali Meeting
Attendees : Anurag Kenge,Sandip Jadhav,Madhuri Karmalkar,Abhijit Karmalkar,Rupesh Jaju,Prashant Bhatt,Srikrushna Upkare,Sanjeev Pathak,Sagar Chandratrey
Agenda:
Proceedings:
Although there was a little reluctance to the meeting being arranged on the Laxmipujan day, some 10 members managed to get together for the meeting.Almost all members who had attended the meet last year were present this year too. This was a good sign.It seems members have liked the concept of the Nasik group and like to meet face to face apart from the participation on the Yahoo group.
After waiting for some members to join, the meeting started off with the discussion of how to make the group more useful.
Sagar reviewed the decisions taken last year and the action taken on the same.
It was observed that some syatematic approach needs to be followed to incresae participation on the group.Hence some action items and owners were identified.
Some members felt the need to have a NRI cell of the Nasik group. But it was concluded that before such a cell could be formed ,we need to have a meaningful activity on the group so that we can make the NRIs feel like joining the group for some meaningful purpose.
Some more things that were discussed were as below:

The Ramakunda
You cant miss this place if you have ever been to Nasik.
If you are a Nasik kar,you may have cetainly taken a dip here at some time.
For those who do not know about the importance of Ramakunda:This is the place where many Hindu rituals are conducted.

The Vegetable market
A river means different things to different people.Oblivious of the great history and present status of the Godawari river, these vegetable vendors insist on selling their produce on the banks of Godawari. In the process, they make the banks quite dirty.
There had been an effort to relocate these people from the banks to somewhere else, but that effort did not meet success.
The problem continues..........

Padwa Pahat
The morning of Padwa is celebrated with classical music in Nasik, every year. This year it was Kishori Amonkar who sang at the Padwa Pahat.
I found this way of celebration far better and civilised than the one on 31st december.

Mutton shop on the banks of Godawari
A Mutton shop on the banks of Godawari...so that everyone from the vegeterian to the non-vegeterian can be satisfied on the Ramghat.
Personally,I did not like a non-veg stall on the banks og the Godawari.

Nilkantheshwar Mandir on Ramghat.Buildings from the past and the recent co-existing on the Ramghat.
The newer concrete ones seem to spoil the scene. The old temple looks quite beautiful compared to the new buildings.

Naroshankar Mandir
The Naroshankar Mandir. Its believed that when the bell is rung, the entire Nasik city hears it...maybe the old city.
There are 2 theories about the origin of this famous bell.
One theory says that Sardar Rajebahaddar(in the service of the Peshwa),in one of his campaigns had looted this bell from one Portuguese church and brought home this bell as a trophy. He had brought 2 other bells, one of them is in the Konkan and the other has been taken to the South.
The second theory says that the bell has been cast in Nasik.
